A Little Suprise

Despite my blog layout, my profile photo, and Evie's clothing in most pictures, Dear Readers, I have to admit, pink is not my favorite color. Actually I don't really have a favorite color at the moment. I recently discovered that I like brown and khaki colors for my clothing. I seem to go through color phases really. For a long time it was black and red only. Then it was black and hot pink. Then it was business casual, grey pants, blue shirt, etc. Now a days it's brown, purple, khaki, and one pink polo shirt. For Evie I always try to keep her clothing gender specific so people know she is a girl and not a clone of Mr. E. The head to toe pink outfits clue in about half the people that walk up to me in public.

People in public are so nice to Evie and me, it is very sweet. But really I love that Evie is so graceful in the spotlight. She is not a flirt. She will not smile at you just because you make a funny face or talk cutesy to her. She is very serious and discerning with new people. Many a waiter/waitress has been disappointed by Evie's lack of flirting. But to me it is a wonderful character trait that I hope she keeps forever. I think it is very important not to trust a stranger just because they seem nice. Now I'm not saying you can't be nice to strangers or even offer/accept help from strangers. I am saying that before you do anything you should take in all your surroundings and choices and you should judge what the best next step is for yourself.

So Dear Readers what is your favorite color/colors right now? What are your thoughts on babies/kids and strangers?

My favorite color is the blue color of my babies eyes. But to wear I kind of just go with black in hopes that it makes me look slimmer - hee hee.

Kids and strangers: I don't like the idea of kids sitting on santas lap at the mall because I think it is saying it is okay to talk to strangers if they are dressed up as something. I am kind of a freak about strangers with my kids. I really like what you said "judge what the best next step is for yourself."

Purple!

Always has been. I don't know why.

I don't WEAR much purple, but I LIKE purple.

(Greetings from the LaGuardia airport terminal, by the way.)

(You almost had two greetings from La Guardia, I was stuck there last weekend...)

Colors: I have no favorite colors, but I have been wearing mostly basic black since the mid-80's, cuz I got tired of the fashion changes being so abrupt and frequent. I add alot of olive green and purples and reds.

Babies and color: when she was 4 months old I had Arabella dressed in pink fleece pants and booties, red, pink, and silver striped shirt, and pink sweater and a man at costco came up and asked me "how old is he?" and then went on to make many more comments about how handsome he was, etc. After he left, the wife came over and sasked me how old he was, and when I said, "she ..." said, oh good. I think the husband was color blind. And, as you recall, A was not a particularly masculine looking infant.

Kids and strangers: A is still VERY friendly, which worries me, but as she is still under my eye almost constantly, I just smile threateningly at anyone I find worrisome, like the unwashed men at the library. I figure its like young animals -- the friendlier the baby, the more dreadful and dangerous the mommy.

I enjoy most colors, I am partial to black, blue, green and red. My husband likes red and luckily it looks good on me. I go through phases too. I can usually tell when I am shopping for new clothes and in one day I pick up three tops in the green family and so on.

Kids can be friendly with strangers as long as they know not to walk away with them, etc. I was a very friendly baby, but now I am very on guard when I meet people, not very trusting.
